What we collect
When you request research, we collect your name, email address, country of ancestry, the optional starting information you enter, and your consent to the terms. We store order references, payment status and the associated research scope. For inquiries, we collect the contact details and note you submit. Please don't include passport numbers, full identity documents or sensitive family information in these forms.
How we use it
We use your information to review and fulfill the research request, communicate with you, handle payments and refunds, and keep appropriate business records. An inquiry or order does not subscribe you to marketing. Information about living people is not published without written permission.
Payment and hosting providers
Stripe processes your payment details. We send Stripe your contact email, the purchased service and an order identifier. We don't store full card numbers or security codes. The site uses Cloudflare for hosting, secure storage and transactional email, and Google Workspace for correspondence and appointment booking. Providers process information needed to operate these services, which may involve processing in the United States and other countries.
Cookies and measurement
We use first-party order cookies to let the browser used at checkout retrieve that order's status. A temporary browser identifier helps avoid duplicate checkout requests. We count country-page views, intake starts, order reviews and confirmed payments to understand whether the service is useful. Those event counts do not include the family details you enter. Short-lived abuse-prevention records use a derived network identifier.
If you allow optional measurement cookies, Google Ads receives ad-click information and inquiry or purchase events, including a transaction reference and purchase amount. We do not send Google your name, email, research notes or family details, and we disable personalized advertising. You can decline or change your choice through Cookie preferences. Google measurement does not load before you allow it.
Research records and access
Access to inquiry and order information is restricted to the people and service providers who need it to operate the service. We don't sell your family information. We discuss any necessary sharing with archives, registrars or your separately engaged adviser as part of the research plan.
Retention and your requests
We retain information for the research and communication purposes described here and for business, payment and legal recordkeeping. You can ask us to correct your details or delete research information we no longer need. Some financial and transaction records must remain available for legitimate recordkeeping. We'll explain any limitation when responding to your request.
